What Our Students Say

Yoga Teacher Training | India | 2019

Rishikesh, India

I started taking classes in 2019 and then decided to attend the teacher training in India. I had never thought of teaching yoga myself, but something in me told me I had to go. This training completely enhanced my personal practice and the way I think. We spent our days in a traditional ashram, learning all aspects of yoga with dedicated and experienced teachers. We also went on adventures up into the mountains and hiked up to the tallest temples...

Frequently Asked Questions – 200 Hour Yoga Teacher Training

What is a 200 Hour Yoga Teacher Training (YTT)?

A 200 Hour Yoga Teacher Training is a foundational-level course that introduces you to all essential aspects of yoga: asana, pranayama, meditation, philosophy, anatomy and teaching skills. It is the minimum training required to register as an RYT 200 with Yoga Alliance and to begin teaching safe, general-level yoga classes.

Who is this 200 Hour Yoga Teacher Training for?

Our 200 Hour YTT is ideal for dedicated yoga practitioners who want to deepen their own practice and start teaching. You do not need to be “advanced” in asana, but you should have a regular practice and a sincere interest in yoga beyond physical postures. Many students join for personal growth, and later discover a natural path into teaching.

What will I learn in your 200 Hour Yoga Teacher Training?

You will build a strong foundation in classical Hatha and Vinyasa yoga, learn safe alignment and basic adjustments, explore key yogic texts and philosophy, and understand how breath and nervous system relate to practice. You will also practice teaching, develop your voice as a teacher and learn how to plan and guide complete classes for beginners and mixed-level groups.

Is your 200 Hour Yoga Teacher Training Yoga Alliance certified?

Yes. Himalaya Yoga is registered with Yoga Alliance as an RYS 200 & RYS 500. After successfully completing our 200 Hour YTTC, you are eligible to apply for registration as an RYT 200 with Yoga Alliance, which is recognized by yoga studios and students worldwide.

Do I need to plan to teach after the 200 Hour YTT?

Not necessarily. Many students join primarily to deepen their personal practice and understanding of yoga. However, our training is structured to give you all the tools you need should you decide to teach now or later: clear methodology, practicum, feedback and guidance on next steps such as continuing education or a future 300 Hour YTTC.

Can I join your 300 Hour YTT after completing the 200 Hour YTT?

Yes. Once you complete a 200 Hour Yoga Teacher Training with us or another eligible school, you can apply for our 300 Hour Advanced YTTC to move toward the RYT 500 level. Many students choose to first integrate the 200-hour training into their own practice and teaching before returning for advanced studies.
